Early Help & Family Support

At Kirkham and Wesham Primary School, we know that every family can need a little extra support from time to time. Our aim is to work alongside families to help children thrive both in school and at home.

Early Help is about identifying concerns as early as possible and providing the right support before problems become more difficult. Support is always offered in partnership with families and is tailored to meet individual needs.

How We Can Help

Support may include:

  • emotional wellbeing
  • behaviour at home or school
  • attendance and punctuality
  • friendships and relationships
  • anxiety and confidence
  • bereavement and family changes
  • parenting advice
  • routines and sleep
  • financial or housing concerns
  • referrals to specialist services.

Working with Other Agencies

Where appropriate, we work alongside a range of organisations to provide additional support, including:

  • Lancashire Children and Family Wellbeing Service
  • Lancashire Family Hubs
  • Barnardo's
  • Fylde Coast Women's Aid
  • New Start Counselling
  • School Nursing Team
  • Health professionals
  • Food Banks
  • Local charities
  • Other specialist support services.

Thrive at KWPS

As a Thrive School, children's emotional wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Through our Thrive Hive, nurture provision and wider pastoral support, we help children develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships so they are ready to learn and achieve their best.

Need Support?

If you would like to discuss any concerns, no matter how small, please contact the school office. We will arrange for you to speak with Mrs H Pye, our Learning Mentor and Senior Mental Health Lead, who will be happy to listen and help identify the most appropriate support.
